Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how MetroSetu (“MetroSetu”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in the MetroSetu Android app (package com.metrosetu) and this website at metrosetu.app. MetroSetu is an independent app built and operated by Jatin Singhal, an individual developer based in India. 1. Summary
MetroSetu is a commuter tool for planning Delhi NCR metro journeys. We designed it to work without accounts and without a MetroSetu server. Your preferences and trip history stay on your device. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run analytics or crash-reporting services at this time.
2. Scope
This policy covers the MetroSetu Android app and the metrosetu.app website. It does not cover third-party apps or websites you open from MetroSetu (such as Paytm, WhatsApp, Amazon, or the DMRC smart card site), which have their own privacy policies.
3. Who we are

4. Information we collect
Data stored on your device only. The app saves the following in local storage on your device (Android DataStore) so the app remembers your choices. This data is not transmitted to us:
- Home and work station preferences
- Recent route trips (up to four): the “from” and “to” station names and IDs, and a timestamp
- Theme (light/dark) and app language (English/Hindi)
- Premium (remove-ads) status flag
Location (optional). The “Nearest station” feature can use your device location through Google Play Services to find stations near you. Location is requested only when you use that feature and only if you grant permission. It is processed on your device to match against the bundled station list. We do not receive, store, or transmit your location to any MetroSetu server (we operate none).
Installed-app detection. To open Paytm, WhatsApp, or Amazon for QR tickets, the app checks whether those apps are installed on your device (Android package visibility) and may display the app’s own icon from your device. MetroSetu does not bundle Paytm, WhatsApp, or Amazon logos in the app, and this check is used only to open the app you choose.
5. Information we do not collect
- No account, sign-up, login, or password
- No ticket booking or payment card data inside MetroSetu (payments happen in partner apps or on official websites)
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs at this time
- No sale of personal data
6. Third-party services
When you choose an action, or for the app to function, the following third parties may be involved. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Paytm, WhatsApp, Amazon Pay — opened for QR metro tickets; any data you provide there is handled by them
- dmrcsmartcard.com — official DMRC smart card recharge site, opened in your browser
- Google Play Services — device location for “Nearest station”, and fonts
- Google Play Billing — if you purchase premium, Google processes the payment; we do not receive your card details
7. The website (metrosetu.app)
This website is a static information site. We do not use cookies, sign-in, or our own analytics on it. However, like any website, some data is processed by our infrastructure providers so the site can load and stay secure:
- Hosting (Cloudflare Pages): our host may automatically process technical request data such as your IP address, browser type, and requested page for delivery, security, and abuse prevention, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Google Fonts: the site loads fonts from Google, which may receive your IP address when fonts are fetched, under Google’s privacy policy.
We do not combine this technical data with any personal profile, and we do not use it to identify you.
8. Advertising
Ads are not active in the current version of MetroSetu. We may introduce Google AdMob with a consent prompt (Google User Messaging Platform) in a future update. If we do, Google may collect data such as an advertising identifier subject to your consent choices, and we will update this policy before ads are enabled.
9. How we use information
On-device data is used only to provide app features: planning routes, showing the map, remembering your preferences and recent trips, finding the nearest station, and opening the partner app or website you select.
10. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. Because MetroSetu has no server that collects your data, there is nothing for us to share on our end. Data leaves your device only when you open a third-party app or website, or through the service providers described above. We may disclose information if required by law.
11. Data retention and deletion
On-device data remains until you delete it. You can clear it at any time by clearing the app’s data in Android settings or by uninstalling the app. Depending on your device’s backup settings, Android may back up app data to your Google account under Google’s policies.
12. Security
App preferences are stored in your device’s app-private storage. Connections to external websites and services use HTTPS where supported. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep the data footprint minimal by design.
13. Children’s privacy
MetroSetu is a general-audience commuter tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Your rights and choices
- Deny or revoke location permission in Android settings
- Clear recent trips and preferences by clearing app data
- Uninstall the app to remove all on-device data
- Contact us for any privacy question or request
15. India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act)
For users in India, MetroSetu acts as the data fiduciary for the limited on-device data described here. You may contact us to raise questions, exercise choices, or file a grievance at [email protected]. We aim to respond within a reasonable time.
16. International users
MetroSetu is intended for Delhi NCR commuters. If you use it from outside India, note that any third-party services you open may process data in other countries under their own policies.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes affecting data collection (for example, enabling ads) will be reflected here before they take effect.
